WELCOME to The High Country of Tuolumne County

It is such a pleasure to welcome you to my blog!

Hope that you enjoy the smell of fresh air, the songs of the birds - even if they are woodpeckers putting holes in your cabin walls! Let me know how you like this "new enterprise" of mine!

ROCK in the river

In our travels I often feel like the rock in the river with the traffic passing on both sides of our rig – a 24 foot travel trailer following our pickup truck over freeways. We had several floods in the area of our home for 41 years. One particular year trees and BIG rocks were hurtling down river in a flood that caused the “grinding rock” upstream from the bridge to be broken and the piece attempted to block the water flow at the bridge, until it was dislodged by a tree several feet in diameter!! So far, praise GOD, no one has crashed into us with that type of FORCE. The drivers all have been polite and we return the favor by using turnouts on two lane highways, and always signaling well in advance of any change in lanes, and well before off ramps. Someone asked if we have tired of our wandering lifestyle and I must say that even after 27,000 miles in 11 months the answer is No, we haven’t. What a beautiful country we live in, full of friendly, helpful people and with no schedules to keep, we can wait for the weather, mostly wind, to be cooperative. We have been truly blessed with “last spaces” and senior or GOOD SAM / KOA rates. Laundries when we need them; RV hookups at cousins from GA to NV to our son’s here in Tuolumne County. We wintered in CO at the HOME PLACE with the COUGAR snug in brother Byron’s shop – BIG BUILDING! Tom accomplished a few “fixes” that he had planned for winter with help from our sons, and brother Byron and sons!! BLESSINGS all. So like the BIG ROCK in the river, we hope to weather floods, sun, rain, and time none the worse for wear, right up to when GOD tells us to put down ROOTS.
