WELCOME to The High Country of Tuolumne County

It is such a pleasure to welcome you to my blog!

Hope that you enjoy the smell of fresh air, the songs of the birds - even if they are woodpeckers putting holes in your cabin walls! Let me know how you like this "new enterprise" of mine!

MOUNTAINS

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills; from whence cometh my help?  My help cometh from The Lord who created heaven and earth.  Psalm 121 (KJV)

That might explaIn our choice of THIS camp spot for three months this winter.  We have mountains all around - desert mountains, no pine trees but Joshua Trees, Saguaro, as well as Cochilla cactus (commonly called Teddy Bears) agave (green and purple), yucca, and Mesquite trees. The sign on the four mile trek from HOPE here on Highway 60 says "WATCH for animals" but so far the lonely wild burro at Lake Alamo, population 4 according to the 2020 census, is the one and only!  They obviously didn't count the wild burro population! However,  we try not to travel at dusk or dawn, so that might explain the lack of wild animal sightings!

Tom says that ALAMO is Mexican for Cottonwood Trees!!

This is also a relatively unpopulated campground but some of the annual residents have been coming every winter for 5 to 10 years and some for six months rather than our three months!  The states span the country and even include Canada-Onterio,  Alaska is the farthest state represented,  but our neighbors from Wisconsin and Michigan are close seconds.  There is a Game Room where I have completed THREE puzzles with Tom's help (did I know that he was very good at puzzling?!  NO) and several others.  Come one, come all!!  There is also a nice warm swimming pool where I met a young family from Washington State recently moved to the Phoenix Area.  He is worn out after 20 years in construction and is going into Real Estate,  they have five precious children and are awaiting their new home in Mesa!

There is a Cafe where so far there was a Spaghetti Supper and a Pancake Breakfast,  but employees are hard to come by so these were organized by residents!!  The  quilters have invited me to join them with my knitting or crocheting projects.  COMMUNITY!

The COMMUNITY Church at HOPE was built by the folks at the Rambling Rose RV Park next door years ago, and this Sunday I will give Marilyn a morning off.  When I offered my services last Sunday she said, " I wondered how I was going to be in two places at once next Sunday!"  Made me feel good to be an answer to someone's prayers!

Marilyn, the pianist, said I was to pick the hymns so I chose well known, at least to me, old hymns.  I just got a text from the Pastor's wife that she had dropped one that I chose and added another.  "In the Garden" was the one added and I commented to her that it was one of my mother's favorite hymns!

ALL IS WELL here with mountains all around!
