WELCOME to The High Country of Tuolumne County

It is such a pleasure to welcome you to my blog!

Hope that you enjoy the smell of fresh air, the songs of the birds - even if they are woodpeckers putting holes in your cabin walls! Let me know how you like this "new enterprise" of mine!

Thankfulness Revisited!

Several years ago we were involved in a BE THANKFUL each day exercise; I decided it was time to revisit this so here are my 30 days of APRIL 2017:

An update of THANKS was in order; this started November 2013

1 – Thankful for my Savior – Jesus, the Christ. He forgives my goofs, “walks with me and talks with me and tells me I am His OWN!”
2 – Thankful for my husband, God bless him, he has put up with a hyper-active, Pollyanna wife for 56 years!!
3 – Thankful for my #1 son, Tom III, who reads my thoughts, gives me sound advice, and has three of my Grandchildren under his care.  He works hard, loves the LORD, and has his two youngest in church on Sunday!
4 – Thankful for the CalTrans snowplow crew, who kept the roads reasonably clear this winter.
5 – Thankful for the CalTrans driver who slid into a PG&E repair truck on Jan 23rd rather than me, just 30 minutes before. I had to go to Pinecrest to enter my Post Office stock into the “Giant Computer in the Sky”.  I had prayed on the way to Pinecrest that I not meet a snowplow as the road was not wide enough for both of us!!  I was right, but what an inspiration for the Cal Trans driver to turn his truck sideways in the narrow road to present the passenger side door to the PG&E truck rather than plowing into it with his PLOW!!  Inspired driving!!
6 – Thankful for the 76 INCHES of precipitation that fell in the form of SNOW – 11 feet in one four day period in January!! – as well as rain!!  DROUGHT is over for a time.
7 – Thankful for #2 son Allan, who survived a gangrenous gall bladder this past year!! Thankful that HE is now a grandfather twice over – son Joey and Marisa produced Olivia’s sister, age 4 and Amelia, now 2 years old!
8 – Thankful for Kathleen, our missionary daughter.  She sees her purpose in life as helping troubled children find peace for their souls in the various childcare facilities she has worked in the last 20+ years.
9 – Thankful that she will be doing her Internship for her Master’s Degree in Counseling some place “WEST of the Rockies!”
10 – Thankful for the “on-line” college work that she is still pursuing as COUNSELING requirements are different state to state.  She is set to graduate next Spring!
11 – Thankful for our Sonora Church family where we are always welcome!
12 – Thankful for my “on site handyman” – God bless him - he is just too talented in the building trades.
13 – Thankful his SNOW BLOWING efforts this winter!!
14 – Thankful for the ten owners that I / we have worked with for the past 23 years here at The Rivers Resort in greater, downtown Strawberry – elevation one mile high, population under 100 except on Holiday Weekend!
15 – Thankful - VERY THANKFUL - for good health for both of us!!
16 – Thankful for all of your prayers!
17 – Thankful for our FOUR grandchildren, all still here locally, who smile when we show up at their events – whether tutoring, volleyball, basketball, or slow-pitch softball, or graduation from Culinary Institute of America at Saint Helena (Miss Cassidy!)  She will be working here in Tuolumne, close to boyfriend Brandon.  Her sibling Brandon doesn’t mind being called BJ when both are in the room!!
18 – Thankful for my “job” as pianist / organist at our nearest church – Mount Calvary Lutheran in Sugar Pine two or three Sundays a month!!
19 – Thankful for a chance to consolidate our belongings into TWO locations –  1100 sq ft home and the 10x40 foot shed at son Tom’s place!!
20 – Thankful that I can STILL remember where the needed item IS located!
21 – Thankful that Tom’s health remains stable.
22 – Thankful that Pastor Kevin welcomes us on the first Sundays of the month at Tuolumne United Methodist, and asks Tom to help him serve communion.
23 – Thankful for healthy food to eat and that we have the ENERGY to do what needs done each day!
24 – Thankful that we have deep roots here in Tuolumne County, can’t hardly go into any store without meeting and greeting SOMEONE that we know.
25 – Thankful for the opportunity to do “traveling church” visiting one of the 58 churches in Tuolumne County a Sunday or two a month.  It is something we have never had the opportunity to do before.  We have covered “missing pianists” who just called from the ER with a possibly broken foot, and a pastor who has just called in SICK!  Tom loves seeing God’s hand in directing our trip on those Sunday mornings.
26 – Thankful for clean air and sunshine after a very interesting winter.
27 – Thankful for Tom’s Dad’s good health – he is still active, living in his own home, and takes only vitamins!!
28 – Thankful for my extended family on both sides…
29 – Thankful for Facebook that allows occasional contact, if only a “likes” or a quick Happy Birthday!
30 – Thankful to live in a country with the freedom to worship, pray and to change our government at the ballot box, without resorting to revolution as in so many places on this globe.
Thankful for the freedom to PRAY for our COUNTRY – National Day of Prayer on May the 4th this year!!  Find a venue near you.  Better yet pray every first Thursday this year!

I could go on and on, but will conclude with a wish for a THANKS  FILLED year, a busy summer for us, and PEACE in our divided state and divided nation.  THE WORLD would be nice to include, but only GOD can help our WORLD to know PEACE!!  I guess that is why we should PRAY for PEACE!  Maranatha – come quickly LORD!
