WELCOME to The High Country of Tuolumne County

It is such a pleasure to welcome you to my blog!

Hope that you enjoy the smell of fresh air, the songs of the birds - even if they are woodpeckers putting holes in your cabin walls! Let me know how you like this "new enterprise" of mine!

LOOKS SAFE TO ME!

We experienced another case of this startling “new attitude” on our way down to Sonora for a Doctor’s appointment – this time a driver used two turn lanes to pass us on the right, in an intersection where the light had just turned green.  What if someone had been ready to turn onto the highway – right turns are legal even on a red light in California if there is no traffic!  But this fool was doing 65 to get around us in a 40 mph zone!!

Then there was the U turner who couldn’t wait, zipped out of traffic to go back the direction he had just come from – must have forgotten something really important as there was a long line of vehicles in BOTH DIRECTIONS that he managed to avoid hitting.  They were driving defensively and braked to allow his idiocy to result in NO CRASH.

The snow players here in Strawberry routinely walk four abreast across the bridge to get to the hill of snow / ice covering ROCK.  Maybe they have a “death wish” – but I remember sliding down “our favorite hill” when I was a kid!  It had a monster evergreen tree that took three fathers to guard, diverting the sleds to miss a collision with the tree.  My dad would have banged up shins for weeks after – those old metal runner sleds had no cushions on the front that was for sure!  Consumer Safety had not been invented yet!  And no one would have THOUGHT to sue the landowner for “allowing a dangerous situation” on their property.  Different time; different attitudes!
