WELCOME to The High Country of Tuolumne County

It is such a pleasure to welcome you to my blog!

Hope that you enjoy the smell of fresh air, the songs of the birds - even if they are woodpeckers putting holes in your cabin walls! Let me know how you like this "new enterprise" of mine!

AUGUST already!

It is hard to believe that August is HERE already!  The nights are getting longer, the pool heater has to work to warm the water for our water aerobics group on Mon, Weds, Fri mornings at 9AM.  Guests of the Rivers Resort as well as others are more than welcome.  We work up a sweat, but in the water you hardly notice it!

The Dept of Fish and Game are putting buckets of trout in the So Fork of the Stanislaus River right here at the Resort, just a mile below Pinecrest Lake.  While the bridge railings are being replaced this month it can get a bit noisy, but in the Spring it is the woodpeckers making all the noise.  I have always wondered how the Juncos - little black headed birds who stay here even in the winter (that's why we nickname them "snow birds") PAY those woodpeckers for the holes that they build THEIR nests in!  The Juncos use and re-use them year after year!
